Before starting

11 Insert the hose so that the catches click to engage (press the catches to release the hose). 12 Attach the telescopic tube to the hose handle and the floor nozzle (certain models have a lock button that must be pressed before the hose and telescopic tube can be pulled apart). If you have a vacuum cleaner with remote control, make sure that the connector is pressed in completely. 13 Electrolux Twinclean features an automatic cord winder (autoreverse). Pull out the power cord and plug into a socket. Pull lightly on the cord to release the catch. 14 Start/stop the vacuum cleaner by pushing the button at the top of the unit. 15 If you have a vacuum cleaner with remote control, the vacuum cleaner is started by lightly pressing the Max or Min button. Turn off the vacuum cleaner by pushing Off. 16 Adjust the suction power by pressing the Max-Min button on the vacuum cleaner or by pressing either the Max or Min button on the remote control. The light for suction power turns dark blue at max suction power and light blue at min suction power.

How to use the telescopic tube

21 Extend or shorten the telescopic tube by pushing the release button towards the nozzle and simultaneously adjusting the length of the telescopic tube. There is a catch at both ends of the telescopic tube. Certain models only have one release button.

33 Rinse the inside (dirty side) in lukewarm tap water. Tap the filter frame to remove the water. Repeat the process four times. Note: Do not use cleaning agents and avoid touching the filter surface. Let the filter dry. Put the filter back into place, close the filter cover and refit the dust container.

Cleaning the dust container

The dust container can be thoroughly cleaned when emptying. 46 Remove the dust container. 47 Empty it. 48 Remove the cover on the side of the round space by pulling it straight out. The dust container can now be wiped off or cleaned. If you use water, make sure that the cartridge is dry before you put it back. Refit the cover back on by pushing it straight in. Put back the dust container.

Emptying the dust container

Clearing the hose and nozzle
The vacuum cleaner automatically stops if there is a blockage in the nozzle, tubes or hose or if the filter or filter holder becomes blocked. Pull out the power plug and allow the vacuum cleaner to cool down for 2030 minutes. Remove the blockage that is causing the problem, and/or replace the dirty filter. Restart the vacuum cleaner. 34 Use a suitable implement to clear the tubes and hose of blockages. 35 It is sometimes possible to clear the hose by massaging it. However, be careful in case the obstruction has been caused by glass or needles caught inside the hose. Note: The warranty does not cover any damage to hoses caused by cleaning them.

Safety precautions

Electrolux Twinclean should only be used by adults and only for normal indoor vacuuming in a home environment. The vacuum cleaner features double insulation and does not need to be earthed. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Close attention is necessary when used near children. The appliance is not intended for use by young children and infirm persons without supervisison. If the plug or cable are damaged, the plug and cable assembly must be replaced by returning the product the your local Electrolux Service Agent or similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

Electrolux Twincleans dust container must be emptied when it is full to the Max sign. The dust container must never be overfilled. 22 Press the release button at the rear of vacuum cleaner. 23 Lift the dust container out. 24 Empty it over a wastepaper basket by pressing the release button. Put the dust container back and press the rear part of the container until it clicks into place.

Troubleshooting
The vacuum cleaner does not start
Check that the cable is connected to the mains. Check that the plug and cable are not damaged. Check for a blown fuse.

Cleaning the dust filter

The vacuum cleaner stops
Check if Twinclean is full. If so, empty it and clean both the box and the filter before putting it back in the cleaner. Is the nozzle, tube or hose blocked? Are the filters blocked?

Getting the best results
Hard floors and carpets: The Max In, Max In Turbo and Max In motorised floor nozzles (5) detect the type of surface being vacuumed. The nozzle with the pedal is set to the type of surface to be vacuumed: Position 1 for carpets (17) and position 2 for hard floors (18). Crevices, corners, etc.: Use the crevice nozzle (8). Upholstered furniture: Use the upholstery nozzle (9). Curtains, lightweight fabrics, etc.: Use the upholstery nozzle (9). The suction power can be reduced by pressing the Max-Min button on the vacuum cleaner or the Min button on the remote control. Frames, bookshelves, etc.: Use the dusting brush (10).

Never vacuum:
In wet areas. Close to flammable gases, etc.

Never vacuum:
Sharp objects. Fluids (this can cause serious damage to the vacuum cleaner). Hot or cold ashes, lit cigarettes, etc. Fine dust, e.g. plaster, concrete, flour. The above can cause serious damage to the motor damage which is not covered by the warranty.

Electrolux Twinclean has a dust filter that should be cleaned now and then to secure a constant high suction. When it is time to clean the filter, the filter light on the vacuum cleaner will flash. The filter is cleaned while in the vacuum cleaner. 25 Turn off the vacuum cleaner when the filter light flashes. 26 Open the cover by lifting the release catch. 27 Lift up the filter holder and turn it a half turn so that the filters change places with each other and put the filters back into the vacuum cleaner. 28 Turn the left filter a full turn in the direction of the arrow. The filter light begins to flash and the vacuum cleaner starts, and as you turn, the filter is cleaned. After you have made a full turn, the vacuum cleaner turns off and the filter light stops flashing. You can now close the cover. About once each year, when the filter light begins to flash more frequently, the filters need to be washed. A Lift out the filters according to the above. B Remove one filter at a time from the filter container (29) by pressing the marked release button and turning the filter. C Rinse the filters in lukewarm water and let D them dry. Thread the filters back into the filter holder.

If something gets stuck
If something gets stuck in the vacuum cleaner: 36 Turn off the vacuum cleaner and open the cover at the front of the unit by lifting the release catch. 37 Lift out the filter holder and the filters. 38 Lift the cover between the filter wells and remove anything that may have got stuck. Also check the bottoms of the filter wells for foreign objects. 39 Refit the cover under the catches and close it by pressing down. Put the filter holder back in place and close the vacuum cleaner cover.

Water has entered the vacuum cleaner
It will be necessary to replace the motor at an authorised Electrolux service centre. Damage to the motor caused by the penetration of water is not covered by the warranty.

Using Max In nozzles

Max In, Max In Turbo and Max In motorised

floor nozzles, are ideal for both hard floors and carpets. The Max In motorized nozzle receives power via the tube and hose, and no additional electrical connections are needed. A blue light on the nozzle indicates that the brush roller is turning. If anything should become lodged in the brush roller, the light turns off. Note: Do not use the Max In Turbo or Max In motorised nozzles on fur rugs, rugs with long fringes or pile depths exceeding 15 mm. To avoid damaging the carpet, do not let the nozzle stay in one place when the brush is rotating. Do not pass the nozzle over electrical cords, and be sure to switch off the vacuum cleaner immediately after use.

40 The Max In and the carpet/floor nozzles should be cleaned frequently to avoid losing suction power. The easiest way to do this is by using the hose handle. 41 Remove the wheels and axles by pulling them straight out. Remove dust-balls, hair or anything else that may have got stuck. 42 Use the crevice nozzle to clean the wheel axles. Refit the wheels by pressing them into place. The auxiliary wheels should be carefully pulled straight out. Clean as required and put them back in the reverse order.

Cleaning the exhaust filter
There are two types of Electrolux Twinclean exhaust filters: Standard filter. Must be cleaned every 57 years. HEPA filter (thicker with creased fibre material). Must be cleaned every 23 years. There is no difference in how the filters are cleaned or fitted. 30 Remove the dust container by pressing the release button at the back of the vacuum cleaner and lifting the container. 31 Lift the two snap catches at the back edge of the vacuum cleaner and open the filter cover. 32 Lift out the filter.

Cleaning the Max In Turbo and motorized nozzles
Always unplug the vacuum cleaner from the wall outlet before cleaning. 43 To remove the brush roller cover, push the outer latch out, and the middle cover to the left, and this will also free the wheels for cleaning. 44 Lift out the brush roller and clean it. Remove entangled threads etc. by snipping them away with scissors. Refit in the reverse order. The auxiliary wheels should be carefully pulled straight out. Clean as required and refit in the reverse order (45).

Parking position
19 When you pause during cleaning, the tube can be attached to the rear of the vacuum cleaner. 20 When storing, the vacuum cleaner can be placed on end and the tube attached at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner.
