Storage of frozen food
The compartment is also suitable for the storage of frozen foods; in this case follow these simple rules: Turn the thermostat knob to the coldest setting (if the room temperature is lower than 20°C it is necessary to arrange the bafeplate so as to obtain a higher temperature in the refrigerating compartment). Remember that, in this condition, the refrigerating compartment temperature might drop below 0°C. If this occurs reset the thermostat knob to a warmer setting. Make sure that the frozen foods have been correctly stored by the retailer. Make sure that the interval between the time when you buy the frozen foods and when you put them in the freezer is short. Do not exceed the dates of expiry marked on the packages by the manufacturer. After a period when the appliance is not used, make it run for at least two hours with the thermostat knob turned to the coldest setting before placing the frozen foods in it. If in the evaporator are not stored frozen foods, to obtain a lower power consumption and a better refrigeration of the foods it is advisable to arrange the bafeplate so as to obtain a lower temperature in the refrigerating compartment.
Defrosting
During operation, the evaporator of the refrigerator compartment gets covered with frost which must be removed because, being a thermal insulator, prevents the even distribution of cold. If it is not removed, the temperature inside the fridge increases with a higher power consumption. To carry out defrosting proceed as follows: Press the button in the middle of the thermostat knob (Fig. 9).
