SPECIAL MOUNTING
For optimum vertical tracking angle, the cartridge should be mounted so the top of the mounting block is parallel to the record playing surface. For stereophonic playback on stereo systems, remove the jumper wires connecting the cartridge output pins.
This cartridge has 12.7 mm (standard 1/2 in.) mounting centers. Hardware is supplied with each cartridge for mounting purposes. In some tonearms and plug-in shells, the cartridge is recessed so that the stylus cannot be conveniently replaced. For these applications, spacers are provided to ensure adequate clearance for stylus removal.
STEREOPHONIC PLAYBACK
1. Make certain cartridge is correctly mounted in tonearm and stylus is properly inserted in cartridge. 2. Protect stylus with stylus guard when dusting turntable. 3. Regulate tonearm set-down to prevent stylus from striking edge of turntable or record. 4. Do not handle tonearm while record is being played. Use cueing device if available. 5. If manual set-down is necessary, release arm as soon as stylus engages groove. 6. Do not activate arm without record(s) on turntable. 7. Do not use damaged records. 8. Check tracking force and anti-skate adjustments periodically. The Shure SFG-2 Tracking Force Gauge, available through your Shure dealer, provides a simple way to accurately set tracking force.
